TULSA – HoganTaylor Assurance Partner Gwen Mazzola, CPA, has been appointed to the 2023 Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans (ERISA Advisory Council).
The 15-member council provides advice on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.
“It’s a great honor to have the opportunity to represent the accounting profession in this capacity,” Mazzola said. "I’m looking forward to collaborating with my fellow appointees to provide advice on policies and regulations to the Department of Labor on important matters concerning employee benefit plans.”
Mazzola joined HoganTaylor in 2008 and currently serves as the Firm’s Lead Employee Benefit Plan Partner. She has more than 25 years of experience providing audit and accounting services to clients and devotes 100% of her professional efforts in the employee benefit plan industry.
Mazzola is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Oklahoma Society of Certified Accountants, and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is also a member of the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan National Conference planning committee, which she is the co-chair for 2023 and 2024.
In addition, Mazzola serves on the board of the Employee Benefits Institute and has served as a board member for the Southwest Benefits Association. She is also a past executive committee member of the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. Mazzola regularly presents at regional and national conferences on various topics related to employee benefit plans.
Mazzola graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Accounting.
